3.A Biased Sputtering of Target Pusher Layers
ثبت نشده
چکیده
Many laser fusion target designs call for metal pusher layers which have surface roughnesses of less than 50 nm and thickness uniformities of a few percent. Applying coatings which meet these requirements to spherical glass microballoons is a unique challenge. One reason for this is the problem which arises when the coating material isdeposited on a surface at oblique angles of incidence, as it must for a spherical substrate. In this situation, small defects in the surface tend to shadow the surrounding area, and therefore grow preferentially with respect to the background.', 2The rapid growth of these defects can lead to unacceptably rough surfaces.

3.B Target Pusher Layer Fabrication Developments
The Target Group has recently begun to apply ion beam sputter deposition for target pusher layer fabrication. Metal deposition on both levitated and stalk-mounted fusion targets has been demonstrated. We believe this is the first application of this versatile deposition technique to IF target pusher layerfabrication. Our initial results indicate that ion beam sputtering is far more controllable...
متن کاملDEPOSITION OF THIN TiO2 FILMS BY DC MAGNETRON SPUTTERING METHOD
Sputter deposition process is another old technique being used in modern semiconductor industries. Sputtering is a process that can deposit TiO2 material on wafer/glass substrates. In this process target is connected to negative high voltage. Further argon gas is introduced into the chamber and is ionized to a positive charge. The positively charged argon atoms are attracted and strike the nega...
متن کاملSputtering Effects during 3D-Imaging of Indium-Tin-Oxide Sputtering Targets
Thin layers of indium tin oxide are applied as electrical contacts in flat displays since they are conductive and optically transparent [I]. Targets are coated with IT0 by reactive magnetron sputtering. A partially reduced ITO-sputtering target is eroded by a Arlo plasma. Sputtered In and Sn atoms are oxidized within the plasma and redeposited on the substrate. During the sputtering process sma...
متن کاملSimulations of Diagnostic Emission due to Fuel-Pusher Mixing in Laser-Driven Implosions
It is important to develop diagnostics of the Rayleigh-Taylor instability that occurs during the deceleration phase of inertialconfinement-fusion capsule implosions because this instability is a crucial factor limiting the capsule performance.1 To simulate the effects of this instability and to assess possible diagnostic techniques, a mix model has been added to the one-dimensional (1-D) hydroc...

X-ray diffraction measurements were performed on Co?Pt1-?/Pd, Co/Pd, Co/Fe, and Co/W multilayer samples with different structures, such as Co?Pt1-? alloy layer composition ?, bilayer thickness, and number of bilayers. Multilayer samples were made by magnetron sputtering in a chamber with multi-parallel guns and a position controllable substrate. Co?Pt1-? alloy layers were deposited by cosputter...
